Welcome to Moonrise

Our story

It all starts with rolling out sugar cookies on my grandparents table, and decorating Christmas cookies.

I grew up cooking and baking and they are some of my fondest memories.

My Grandma and Grandpa Privia were always making something delicious. Their dining room table was always covered from end-to-end each Christmas with the insane amount of treats that my Grandma insisted we make. It always seemed so much, but it’s one of my most treasured memories. From every kind of cookie, to peanut butter balls, tea cookies, and what we now know as ‘charcuterie’, extra pickles! She loved family and loved treating us all. My Grandpa.. well he loved eating it! My mom, the crazy scientist. She’s always got me on my toes. With new recipes, ideas and crazy concoctions. They don’t always work out to be an eye-pleasing masterpiece, but they’re usually delicious. While her parents are now at peace, we try to carry on their traditions and I look forward to baking too many treats when we get to spend the holidays together.

My Grandma Kiki made sugar cookies every year as gifts for family and friends and after baking would always have her grandkids over to decorate. I always looked forward to decorating. Oh, and mint making! She makes the best mints. YUM! One thing that always stuck with me is how creative she praised me for being, and how much she loved my cookie designs. As a kid, those sorts of things stick with you. She always paid such close attention and noticed the little details I put into each cookie. Well, until my hand started to hurt and I just threw some sprinkles on! My Dad has always been a big influence on flavor. Mexican-American flare on classic desserts are oh-so-yummy and incorporate warm spices that feel like home.

Of course there are so many more influences and inspiration from family to my friends, and I wouldn’t be where I am today with out them.

Thank you all for supporting my dream.
